Elmo's World Video / DVD interstitials

These are illustrations designed for video. It was all done digitally and meant to be reminiscent of the look of crayons (actually, it was originally supposed to look as if Elmo himself drew them, but shortly after the first video, the image requirements became so complex that Elmo would have had to have gone to art school). I've done five Elmo's World Home Video titles to date.

  • Elmo's World: Elmo Has Two! Hands, Ears & Feet
  • Elmo's World: Head to Toe With Elmo!
  • Elmo's World: The Great Outdoors!
  • Elmo's World: Wake Up with Elmo!
  • Elmo's World: ? (Not Yet Released - but it's mail, bathtime, and families)

I've also worked on Elmo Goes to the Firehouse, but I didn't get credit; and I didn't work on Ballerina Zoe, but I think I did get credit so it must balance out.

McDonald's Times Square video wall presentation interstitials 2002

For POP NYC, I created and animated a 3d model of a somewhat stylized Times Square in Manhattan. The yellow billboards in the animation were replaced with other short video presentations and the flying from billboard to billboard provided the interstitial connection between segments. This played (I think it's still playing) on the video wall at the McDonald's Mega-Store in Times Square.

Sesame Street Beginnings: Talk, Read, Write!
Comenzando con Sesame Street: ¡Hablar, leer, escribir!

This is an integrated, bi-lingual website. Sesame Street Beginnings: Talk, Read, Write! provides resources for literacy development for preschool children to parents and caregivers. The program is developed by Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind Sesame Street and so much more, and funded by the Prudential Foundation.

It was my job to build the website to reflect the content of the informational package that is available to parents, teachers, and caregivers. I did the graphics and html. Produced by Wilkie McCoy for Sesame Workshop Interactive Media.

Runaround Fred
Cartoon Network.com Cartoon Orbit Flintstone game 3d car models

For POP NYC. I created 3d models of the Flintstone-mobile and the Rubble-mobile for a Cartoon Orbit game. The idea was that you as Fred would drive the car around to do Wilma's errands (I think it was for Mother's Day). As far as I know, the Rubble-mobile was not used. These were rendered with a cell shader and were meant to be seen much smaller in the game. I went a little nuts anyway -- it was such a fun project!

Lobster-guy (Café des Hommards)
"Best of the Best" School of Visual Arts Millennial Illustration show

My training is that of a tradional oil painter in the style of 19th Century French Academic Realism. Once upon a time, I was able to trace my painting lineage (from teacher to student) back to Jean Louis David... and it was rumored that we could trace it back all the way to Leonardo himself.

This piece is "Lobster-guy". It was my most publicized work, somehow. While much of my other work involved humans, this one is the big exception. This piece was one of several featured in Advertising Age's Creativity Magazine in an article about the "Up and Coming Illustrators of 1993", and was part of the School of Visual Arts Millennial Illustration show called "Best of the Best" -- it featured artists from the founding of the school through the year 2000.

Spirit, Stallion of the Cimarron
Game Boy Advanced title

For Hyperspace Cowgirls, I did the bad guys in the desert section: the rustlers, the scorpions, etc. This one was a lot of fun to animate, although it was done when I was in incredible pain from a neck injury.

Dragon Tales: Learn & Fly With Dragons
Sesame Workshop / Scholastic PC Game

I was the art director for Sesame on this. I also made sure that the charaters were on-model and I tweaked some of the background art. Hypnotix was the third-party developer for Scholastic, and they all did a wonderful job on this title.

In the game, you help Cassie's siblings learn about pattern matching and object relationships and such. Somehow this enables them to learn how to fly at the end of the game. This game arrives in stores later this year.

Sesame Street Interactive DVD prototype

This is an interactive DVD prototype developed through the American Film Institute's Enhanced TV Workshop. I did all of the graphics and many of the animations on the DVD: including the amazing 3d rendered cookie. I also did the packaging -- there were 5 different colors with mini-posters of different characters in each.

Sesame Street Web Games

My primary function at Sesame Workshop is as a Muppet Art Director and Illustrator. I make sure that all the Sesame Street Muppets that are created by third-party developers are basically on-model. I also illustrate the muppets and frequently have the privilege of making Sesame Street Flash games. My favorite games that I did all of the art (and sometimes the coding) for are (click them to play):

My favorite feedback letter from a Sesame Street website user accuses me of making a homo-erotic game.... read it here!

Out There website
outthere.tv

Out There is a "tween" dramatic series that is a co-production of Sesame Workshop, the BBC and the Australian Broadcasting Company. For the Official Sesame Workshop Out There website, we decided that in addition to the normal "about-the-show-type-stuff" we would also make weblogs for each of the main characters with an entry for every episode of the series.

This time, POP NYC was our third party developer for this website and the flash games. I art directed the site for Sesame Workshop, and I made nearly all of the visual material in the blogs. One of my favorite pieces that I did for the weblogs was Fiona's link to an Australian Sign Language Finger-Spelling Alphabet chart.

Open House Online Game
Lifetime.com

I created the basic sofa for POP NYC.

Vox Regis and Ruskaya Ruletka
World Renouned Shockwave games

My friend, G.Decker, and I created these gems early on in the days of the "Information Superhighway". Both have won acclaim and award, including a "Harsh Site of the Day" for Sousa Tequila and "Best of the Web" for France's CanalPlus. There is a wonderful article on about.com about Vox Regis.

Sesamestreet.com Logo

Yeah, it's a no-brainer, but it's my no-brainer.

Sesamestreet.com T-shirts

We made a whole bunch of t-shirts in assorted colors featuring my "Link UP...SesameStreet.com" graphic. They were given out as SWAG, until someone in the IS department mistakenly threw out the boxes. Haven't seen them on e-bay yet.

Sesamestreet.com Coffee Mug

Yup. They liked it so much they put it on the coffee mug, too.

Sesamestreet.com Magazine Advertisment

This is the default Back Cover of Sesame Street Magazine (ie. when no paying customers have the spot).

Sesame Street on PBS "Coming Soon" page

This was a "coming soon" page for PBSKids. It wasn't up online very long, but I liked it and thought it deserved another shot at the limelight.
